Missouri Strip Mall
Situation: August 16, 2010, Mr. Jim Baker of JML Construction contacted Ram Jack of Tennessee with a situation at their job site in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. JML Construction had everything in line and were ready to start construction when they received the soils report. The fill material was not properly compacted in the area they had prepared to develop the strip mall. This put a halt on the construction.
Solution: Mr. Jim Baker emailed job plans to Ram Jack of Tennessee from the structural engineer who was over the project. His plan of repair consisted of the installation of 143 new construction helical piles with a 15-20 kip ultimate capacity on approximately 5 foot centers. Per a phone conversation between Mr. Jim Baker and a Ram Jack of Tennessee representative, a deal was made and a contract was signed. With the help of Ram Jack Manufacturing and Ram Jack Distribution, material was delivered on the job site one week later.
Conclusion: Ram Jack of Tennessee arrived on the job site the morning of Monday, August 23, 2010, with 6 employees and 2 mini excavators. The first helical pile was installed at 9:00 a.m. The job was completed Tuesday, August 24, 2010, around 3:00 p.m. All 143 helical piles were installed at an average depth of 20 feet. The job was completed in a timely manner and JML Construction never had to slow down. JML Construction employees were able to work alongside Ram Jack as helical piles were being installed. As soon as the last helical pile was installed, rebar was tied and footings were poured.
