We’ll Make Sure Your Basement Meets International Residential Codes

The International Residential Code (IRC) requires all basements with living space and every sleeping room to have at least one openable emergency escape and rescue opening. Before you finish your basement, it is a good idea to have a Ram Jack consultant visit and review your basement to plan for this required emergency escape. We can determine where the best location(s) would be to install an egress window(s).

Below are some common code requirements Egress Window:

Shall have a sill height of not more than 44 inches above the floor.
All emergency escape and rescue openings shall have a minimum net clear opening of 5 square feet.
Minimum clear opening width of 20 inches.
Minimum clear opening height is 24 inches.
